Into the Depths tackles personal reflections based on devotional materials and preachings. Join me as I dive deeper into Scripture and ponder on what God is teaching us through His Word.
By spending time learning Scripture and in prayer, we can live our life better each day, for God's glory.
Scripture: Philippians 3:7-14 (The Apostle Paul's letter to the Philippian church)
Biblical Truths:
Verse 8a - "Yes, everything is worthless when compared with the infinite value of knowing Christ Jesus my Lord."
Verse 9b - "I become righteous through faith in Christ. For God's way of making us right with Himself depends on faith."
Verse 14 - "I press on to reach the end of the race and receive the heavenly prize for which God, through Christ Jesus, is calling us."
Insights and Application:
What do I value most in life? My loved ones and the lifestyle I currently live are what popped into my mind.
When Rev. Billy Graham was asked what he loved most about his ministry, he said, "It has been my fellowship with Jesus. To sense His presence, to glean His wisdom, to have Him guide and direct me — [those have] been my greatest joy[s]."
This made me stop and ponder. I value my lifestyle, but does it include a close relationship with Jesus and living in obedience to His will daily?
The way I live my life doesn't always reflect how much I value my relationship with Jesus. This is what I came to realize upon honest evaluation of my lifestyle.
Yes, I want to experience living a life that's in complete dependence to God. But I find that oftentimes, I put other relationships and the unimportant things of this world before God. This is clearly seen with the way I spend my time. I have not yet attained a lifestyle that consistently reflects dependence on Him.
For the Apostle Paul and Rev. Billy Graham, knowing Christ is the best thing in this life. This challenges me to let go of everything that hinders me from knowing Christ and experiencing His power in my life.
My highest pursuit in this life should be something that has eternal value, something that will not be lost along with everything in this world someday. Having received the gift of salvation paid for by Christ's blood, it's only fitting that He captures my mind, heart, soul, and strength.

Here's a fun fact as a P.S.: I almost named my blog "Into the Depths" but I ultimately went with a less serious name, Blog for Thoughts. I'm glad I still found a way to use it through this post!
